Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

About Craniosacral Therapy

CST is based on the wholeness of the body with its inherent intelligence and vitality that can be accessed and enhanced through subtle touch and awareness. CST works with the craniosacral system, which consists of the bones, membranes, and fluids that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.

The craniosacral system is connected to the rest of the body through the fascia, a network of connective tissue that envelops every organ, muscle, nerve, and blood vessel.

CST practitioners use light and receptive touch to facilitate the movements and balance the rhythms of the craniosacral system and the fascia, promoting the body’s inherent health and wholeness.

What does Biodynamic mean?

The term “Biodynamic” refers to our practice of considering the integrated wholeness of the human as our starting point. Homeostasis, our natural state of health and well-being, is our goal.

We focus on Ease rather than dis-Ease, Strengths rather than Deficiency. When we assess a client, we assess the whole person, inclusive of their family constellation, lifestyle, and support ecosystem.

Our goal is to collaborate with our clients to identify areas of tension and compensation, and to work with them to remedy and restore a state of ease and a sense of well-being.

My approach:

As a long-time student of Body-Mind Centering (BMC®), I incorporate BMC’s therapeutic touch and awareness to assess and palpate the rhythms and movement of the organ systems. I listen and respond to the different currents in the fluid systems- blood, lymph, connective tissue, and cerebrospinal fluid.

Benefits of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) benefits people of all ages and conditions.
  • Pain relief: reduces or eliminates pain by releasing tension, inflammation, and trauma stored in the tissues causing chronic pain, headaches, migraines, neuralgia, fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, and more.
  • Relaxation: induces a deep state of relaxation and calmness by activating the parasympathetic nervous system, which is responsible for rest, digestion, and healing.; releases stress and anxiety to increase well-being and happiness, quality of sleep, mood, and mental clarity.
  • Emotional well-being: helps heal emotional wounds and traumas by creating a safe, supportive, and compassionate space to explore and express their feelings; fosters connection, belonging, and purpose in life and helps you access your inner resources: resilience, strength, creativity, and joy.
  • Physical well-being: supports the optimal functioning of your systems and organs by enhancing the flow of blood, lymph, and cerebrospinal fluid; boosts the immune system, the endocrine system, and the digestive system, as well as promotes wound healing and injury recovery; is effective in managing chronic health conditions, such as stroke, scoliosis, temporomandibular joint syndrome, post-concussion syndrome, and more.
  • Spiritual well-being: facilitates the integration of body, mind, and spirit by creating a sense of harmony, balance, and peace within oneself and one’s environment.
BCST can be a valuable addition to any wellness program or health care plan.

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy and Long Covid

Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy (BCST) offers a gentle, non-invasive approach that addresses both the physical and emotional aspects of recovery by:

Balancing the Nervous System:

  • BCST focuses on the craniosacral system, which includes the brain, spinal cord, and cerebrospinal fluid.
  • By gently influencing cranial rhythms, it balances and tones the autonomic nervous system, reducing stress responses and promoting homeostasis.

Enhancing Fluid Dynamics

  • The subtle movements of cerebrospinal fluid impact immune function, detoxification, and tissue repair, facilitating optimal fluid flow, and aiding recovery.
  • The craniosacral system is connected to the rest of the body through the fascia, a network of connective tissue that envelops every organ, muscle, nerve, and blood vessel.
  • BCST uses light, gentle, and receptive touch to facilitate the movements of the craniosacral system and the fascia.

Addressing Trauma and Emotional Residue:

  • BCST sessions allow patients to release stored trauma, supporting emotional resilience.
  • BCST complements conventional therapies by addressing the mind-body connection.
Clinical benefits of Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy include:

Reduced Brain Fog and Cognitive Impairment:

  • Based on studies of patients with Concussion, Headaches, and TBI, BCST has been reported to improve memory, attention, and executive function.
  • Patients report clearer thinking and better multitasking abilities.

Energy Restoration:

  • BCST enhances vitality by optimizing fluid dynamics.
  • Patients experience increased energy levels and reduced fatigue.

Emotional Well-being:

  • Emotional release during sessions aids in stress reduction.
  • Patients find relief from anxiety and depression associated with Long Covid.
Biodynamic Craniosacral Therapy offers a holistic and complementary model of recovery from Long Covid and can be used in conjunction with or as a stand-alone individualized treatment plan to alleviate symptoms and enhance the overall well-being of patients suffering from Long Covid symptoms.
