Lazy Days of Summer

by | Aug 1, 2022

Hello Friends,

Welcome to the long last days of summer that are August. Hopefully you have enjoyed or will be enjoying some rest and relaxation, some downtime, and a chance to restore.

Recovering from a mild case of Covid, I am reminded of the importance of stillness, of slowing down and releasing the sense of rush and the pressure to produce still nagging at me after so many years of meditation, yoga, and Biodynamic Craniosacral practice. This stillness, of letting the dust settle and the waters become clear, is at the root of the Biodynamic Craniosacral healing. Allowing the system to settle and the inner rhythms of the body-mind-spirit to harmonize and synchronize with these slower rhythms of nature makes space for healing from any of the stressors that we face.

Entrainment- the bond established between the mother and infant holding each other’s gaze, the synchronous speaking of each other’s thoughts in dear relationships, the synchronizing of the menstrual cycles of women who spend time together- Entrainment is technically, “the harmonic integration of biological oscillators” expressed as “primary, fundamental rhythm” (McPartland, J and Mein, E.A., 1997). Entrainment results in a balance between the parasympathetic and sympathetic components of the autonomic nervous system.

In the Biodynamic Craniosacral session, entrainment between client and practioner allows the client to tune into the slower rhythms of nature and to release the stress held in the tissues. In my practice, I’ve come to view entrainment as necessary and as beneficial as that unconditional love that we may have the privilege to give, to receive and to witness in our lifetimes. Biodynamic Craniosacral practice can boost the immune system, lower blood pressure, decrease stress hormones and chronic pain, and restore balance to the nervous system.

Namaste,
