Stored Potency
Back in May, I wrote about the explosion of life in the trees and plants as their stored potency burst forth into form. It’s something I notice frequently following the rains- how life seems to grow bigger, broader, and brighter thanks to the rain’s nourishment.
Similarly, within our bodies, the stored energy is potent and ready to burst forth and help us reach our full potential when we release it. The stored potency is waiting to be transformed through movement, sound, and breath. Potency needs to move!
Stored potency is related to a topic I often return to, a key to my balance and well-being:
Tension vs Pressure
The longer we hold stored potency, the harder and harder it becomes to dislodge it. If we create movement in the tissues, allowing the stored potency to move, the stored potency can be transformed into energy and ease. When the stored potency moves, it increases our vitality and joie de vivre.
Tension is a dynamic, bidirectional “conversation” between two points – imagine the tension on a guitar string vibrating between the two points that create the most resonant sound.
Pressure is unidirectional, without exchange or conversation. It exhausts you and saps your vitality.
If stressful moments can indeed be re-framed as Tension rather than Pressure, you gain access to the energy and Resilience they carry.
If Stored potency can move along the vector between the 2 points, it can be released through the activation of Tension, increasing Equilibrium and overcoming the Pressure holding potency inert.
Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy brings balance to the body’s systems and restores movement in the tissues where stored potency is held inert, creating the opportunity for change and healthful ease.
In my practice, I work with clients to process and release pain and restrictions, to release stored potency and bring vibrancy and health to all the living tissues.
Mid-summer is a perfect time for a tune-up. You are invited to schedule a Craniosacral therapy session with me in my new Union Square office.
Namaste,
Dr. Ellyce DiPaola
