Introduction to Pruning and Tuning
Welcome to my newsletter exploring aspects of Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy! This unique modality focuses on restoring harmony within the bodymind, and one of the ways it does this is by supporting the brain’s efficient pruning and tuning.
Pruning and tuning are used in Craniosacral therapy, a gentle and holistic approach to promoting physical and emotional well-being. This therapeutic modality is applied to both infants and adults, albeit with differing techniques and considerations.
In the context of infants, Craniosacral therapists utilize pruning and tuning to support the delicate balance of a developing craniosacral system.
During birth, an infant’s head and body undergo significant pressure and molding, which can result in misalignments or restrictions in the cranial and sacral areas. Pruning involves identifying and releasing these subtle restrictions through gentle touch and manipulation.
Therapists focus on enhancing the natural cranial rhythms, ensuring that the cerebral spinal fluid flows smoothly, and that the nervous system functions optimally. By addressing any imbalances, practitioners can alleviate issues such as colic, breastfeeding difficulties, sleep disturbances, and developmental delays.
The therapist provides a safe and supportive environment for the body’s self-corrective mechanisms to flourish. Pruning and tuning rely on the therapist’s sensitivity and responsiveness to the body’s cues.
By respecting the body’s rhythms and fostering a deep state of relaxation, craniosacral therapy creates an environment conducive to holistic healing.
Biodynamic Craniosacral therapy brings balance to the body’s systems and restores movement in the tissues creating the opportunity for change and healthful ease.
In my practice, I work with infants and adults helping them process and transform trauma into healing, to process and release pain and restrictions, and bring vibrancy and health.
